Are you financially able to care for your dog? Having a dog is not hugely expensive, but it is nevertheless a financial investment. Over the course of a dog’s life, you can expect to spend about $50 to $100 a month on food and essential supplies. This does not include the extra costs of veterinary care and insurance, training, or daycare and overnight boarding.

This guide is general information, not veterinary advice. Talk to your veterinarian about your own dog.
