Not long ago we got a phone call from a police constable. She was helping a young woman who was living out of her car with her big dog, and there were no shelters that could take them both in.
A local charity suggested she call us, to see whether we could look after the dog for two or three weeks.
We took the dog into our care at no cost to the young woman. Over the next few weeks the officer was able to connect her with the support she needed, and then she came to pick up her dog.
The officer and the charity did the hard work. We were simply glad to be one of the people they could call.
